How weak photos cost roofers the replacement job

  1. Someone else's roof

A stock photo of a perfect shingle roof tells a homeowner nothing about your crew. They want roofs you installed, in towns they know, on houses like theirs.

  2. The finished roof and nothing else

A finished roof looks like every other finished roof. The torn-off deck, the flashing detail and the before and after show the work a homeowner can't see from the driveway, and the part they worry about.

  3. Photos that slow the page

Full-size photos straight off a camera make a job page crawl on a phone, and homeowners leave before they see your work.

  4. No video for your ads

Facebook and Instagram favour short video. With no footage of your own roofs, ads default to stock clips or a single photo, and most homeowners have never seen their own roof from above.

What we shoot on a roofing job

Wet asphalt shingles on a roof ridge under a stormy sky above the water

Before and after

The same angle before tear-off and after the last ridge cap, so the change is obvious. It works as a slider on your page and a carousel in your ads.

Crews at work

Your people tearing off, laying underlayment and nailing shingles, in your gear and with fall protection in use. Homeowners want to see who shows up.

Materials and details

Close-ups of the shingle, the metal profile, the flashing and the ridge vent. These are the details a homeowner compares when they price metal against asphalt.

Straight-on and twilight shots of the finished roof for your job pages, your Google profile and next year's estimates.

Aerials

The whole roof, the lot and the house in its neighbourhood, from a certified drone pilot. Nothing shows a roof better.

What a roofing shoot covers

The kinds of shots we plan for a roofing job. The last one is a drone shoot we did for a development client.

Where your roofing photos get used

Before the shoot day we decide where every photo and clip will go, so nothing ends up forgotten in a folder.
  • Website: a page for each roof type, the gallery and before and after sliders
  • Google Business Profile: new photos of finished roofs every month
  • Ads: short video and photo ads made from your own roofs
  • Estimates: photos of the old roof in the quote package
  • Hiring: crew shots for your careers page and job posts

Show the whole roof from above

A drone shows what ground photos can't: the whole roof, the lot and the house in its neighbourhood. The Ad Creative shoot includes drone footage where the site and airspace allow it, and a drone shoot booked alone starts at $800.

Transport Canada wants a registered drone and a pilot certificate for any drone between 250 g and 25 kg. Controlled airspace, which covers much of the Lower Mainland and Victoria, needs an advanced certificate and NAV CANADA permission. We check the airspace and sort out permissions before the shoot.

A marketing shoot isn't an inspection report. Our aerials show the work. A damage report for an insurer needs measurements and notes from your estimator.

  • 10+ edited photos, a highlight video and the raw footage
  • We check the airspace and arrange any permissions
  • Single shoots, or monthly plans from $1,799 for active jobs

Photo and video pay off for roofers with roofs worth showing

You're a good fit if

  • Your finished roofs look better than any photo on your website
  • You have a job starting or wrapping up in the next few weeks
  • You run ads, post on social media or sell on trust and looks

We're not a fit if

  • You need one photo for a business card
  • You need an inspection report for an insurer. That is a different job

Plan a shoot
How much does roofing photography cost?

A Media Refresh shoot is $1,400 one time and gives you 50 edited photos and a highlight video. An Ad Creative shoot is $1,500 and gives you 4 short videos, drone footage and 10 photos cut for Meta ads. A drone shoot on its own starts at $800, and monthly drone plans begin at $1,799.

How many photos do we get?

A Media Refresh shoot: 50 edited photos and a highlight video. An Ad Creative shoot: 4 short videos with different hooks, drone footage and 10 photos for ads. A drone shoot: 10 or more photos, a highlight video and the raw footage.

Do you shoot active roofing jobs?

Yes. Crews at work make some of our best footage. We work around your schedule and your safety rules.

When should we book a shoot?

Before tear-off, so you have the old roof, and again when the last ridge cap is on. Shooting from the same spots both times makes the before and after line up. Add a time-lapse if you want a clip for ads.

Is this the same as a drone roof inspection?

No, it isn't. An inspection report documents damage for an insurer or a buyer, while our drone shoots are made for marketing: the finished roof, the lot and the neighbourhood. If a homeowner needs a report, your estimator writes it.

Do you need a licence to fly a drone over a house?

Yes. Transport Canada requires a registered drone and a pilot certificate for drones between 250 g and 25 kg, and an advanced certificate plus NAV CANADA permission in controlled airspace. A certified operator handles that paperwork for you.

Do your Facebook ads plans include a shoot?

If you don't have video of your roofs yet, we start your ads with the Ad Creative shoot. That way the ads run on real footage of your jobs. See roofing Facebook ads.

Who owns the photos and video?

The finished photos and edits are yours to use on your website, social channels and ads.
