CONSTRUCTION WEBSITE DESIGN

We scored 133 construction company websites, and the average was 66.3 out of 100. Only 29% show a phone number before you scroll on a phone. Our construction website design puts your projects, licence and warranty up front, with a page for every project type and a quote form that asks about the lot.

  • A page for every project type you build
  • Licence, warranty and safety details where owners look for them
  • Phone number and quote button in the first screen on a phone
  • Fast on a phone, with photos of your own builds

The reality

Why construction websites lose the job before the first meeting

  1. Slow on a phone

The median construction home page took 8.4 seconds to show its main content on a phone. Google calls 2.5 seconds good. Full-size project photos are usually the reason.

  2. Missing the proof owners check

BC Housing tells buyers to check that a new home was built by a licensed residential builder and has third-party home warranty insurance. Only 26% of construction websites state a warranty, and 14% say the business is insured.

  3. One page for every kind of project

An owner pricing a laneway home and a property manager planning an office fit-out land on the same "Services" page. Neither sees their project, and Google can't tell which search the page is for.

  4. A form that asks nothing useful

84% of construction websites have a contact form. A blank message box means a phone call just to learn the address, the budget and the start date. Only 1% invite owners to text.

By the numbers

Where do construction websites lose points?

On proof and on contact. In our study, the top quarter of construction websites passed the trust and contact checks about 3 to 9 times as often as the bottom quarter. The widest gap was reviews on the home page: 91% of the top quarter, against 21% of the bottom.

Debut Trades Index, our study of 133 Canadian construction companies in 21 markets, October 6 to 7, 2026. Top and bottom quarter by Debut Digital Score, home pages checked at phone size. If we could fix one thing on a builder's site, it would be three real reviews and the licence number right beside the first photo.

What we build

What goes into a construction company website

  1. The T City Developments website on a laptop
    Construction SEO

    A page per project type

Custom homes, multiplexes, laneway homes, additions and commercial: each with your builds, your process from first meeting to handover, and the questions owners ask about that kind of project.

    Website Design

The proof page owners look for

Your builder licence, warranty provider, WorkSafeBC or WSIB coverage, COR certificate, awards and memberships, in one place and linked from every page. Names and numbers, not "fully licensed and insured".

  3. A site worker in hi-vis directing a skid steer operator
    Construction Photography

Built for a phone, with your own photos

Phone and quote button in the first screen, photos sized to load fast, and a form that asks about the lot, budget range and start date. Projects you can filter by type and town.

Also in the plan

  • A path for job seekers and trades Careers and a page for subtrades and suppliers sit in the footer, so hiring traffic never crowds out clients.
  • Branding for construction companies A logo and colours that hold up on a site sign and a Google thumbnail. Construction Branding
  • Google Ads for construction companies Each campaign lands on the matching project page, not the home page. Construction Google Ads

Case study · Kiwi Custom Construction · Custom pools and hardscaping, Kelowna

80% more website traffic in the first 3 months

  • +80%website traffic in the first 3 months
  • 3service pages, one for each trade
  • 1scroll animation that builds a pool

KCC builds high-end concrete pools, hardscaping and carpentry in Kelowna, and their old template site didn't show any of it. We built a page for each trade, a projects gallery of real KCC builds, a four-step process so homeowners know what happens when, and the pool-building animation on the homepage. Traffic went up 80% in the first three months.

Evan did a great job on our website and offered lots of wonderful advice and tips on how to promote website traffic, and improve our business. I would not hesitate to recommend him for all your website needs. We are extremely satisfied and pleased with the work Debut has done for us.

Portfolio

Websites we have built for builders

Real companies doing real work in real towns, each site built around the projects they want more of.

Through the year

When a construction company should build its website

  1. November to February

    Build it

Site work is slower, so there's time to plan pages, write the process and pull photos from last season.

  2. March

    Launch before the calls

Go live before spring quote season, so owners who planned all winter find a site that answers them.

  3. June to September

    Shoot the builds

Long, dry days for photos and drone footage at framing, lock-up and handover.

  4. October

    Add the year's work

New project pages and fresh reviews, while owners still remember to say yes to both.

Pricing

Website pricing for construction companies

One-time prices, and you own the finished site. Most construction companies start with the Foundation Package, because the brand and the Google profile need as much work as the site, but four project types across six towns will outgrow 8 pages fast. We'd rather build 8 pages you'll keep updated than 40 you won't.

Starter Website

Start marketing in your local area and show up when people search for your services.

$3,200 one-time

What's included

  • 2 rounds of revisions
  • Optimized for mobile and SEO
  • Up to 15 pages
  • Full website rights

Need a logo, cards and a Google profile too? The Foundation Package bundles an 8-page website with all of it for $3,500, by application. See the Foundation Package

What does a construction company website cost?

Our Starter Website is $3,200 one time, and the Scaling Website is $11,000. The Foundation Package is $3,500 and adds your logo, brand, business cards and Google profile to an 8-page site. Hosting and your domain are small ongoing costs we explain on the first call.

What makes a good construction website?

A page for each project type, your own project photos, your licence and warranty where owners look, a phone number and quote button in the first screen on a phone, and a fast load. Those are the checks the top quarter passes most in our study.

What pages does a construction company website need?

A home page, a page per project type, a projects gallery, a process page, an about page with your licence and warranty, a reviews page and a contact page. Add a page per town if you build in several, and a bid or RFQ page if you do commercial work.

Do I own the website?

Yes. You get full rights to the site, and the domain is in your name. If you leave, it goes with you.

Should a construction website show prices?

A starting range helps. Only 1% of the construction websites we checked show any price. A per-square-foot starting range in your own numbers screens out owners who can't afford to build before they book a meeting.

Should my careers page stay on the website?

Yes, but keep it in the footer and keep your ads pointed at project pages. 41% of construction home pages link a careers page. Hiring matters, but the home page is for clients.
