Branding for construction companies · Vancouver and across Canada

CONSTRUCTION BRANDING & LOGO DESIGN

In Vancouver, a custom home now costs $490 to $1,250 a square foot to build. Owners spending that judge your company long before the first meeting. Our construction company branding gives you a logo and a look that read as established on the site sign, the truck, the proposal and the Google profile.

  • A custom logo you can read on a site sign from the street
  • Site signs, hoarding, trucks, hard hats and hi-vis
  • Proposal, estimate and capability statement templates
  • Every file is yours to keep

The reality

How a weak brand costs construction companies the bigger jobs

  1. Your biggest sign says nothing

A site sign stands on a busy street for the whole build. Too many carry a phone number in small type and a logo nobody can read from a passing car.

  2. The neighbours have a lot to say

In our study of 99 BC construction companies, 34.6% of commercial and civil contractors had review excerpts complaining about driving, noise, traffic or site mess. A sign that says who to call gives a neighbour somewhere to go besides Google.

  3. Three logos, one company

The truck has the old logo, the website a newer one, and the Google profile a photo of a pickup. A developer comparing bids reads that as a company that isn't organized yet.

  4. A name you can't add keywords to later

Your Google profile has to use your real business name. Tacking "Custom Homes Vancouver" onto it breaks Google's guidelines and can get the profile suspended. If your name doesn't say what you build, the brand has to.

By the numbers

What do construction clients look for before they call?

Signs that you're safe to hire. In our study of 133 Canadian construction companies, the top quarter's home pages were far more likely to say they're insured, name an award, or mention WorkSafeBC, WCB or WSIB. A brand is where those claims live, on screen and on paper.

All construction sitesTop quarterBottom quarter

Names an award, "best of" or "top rated" 23% 39% 3%

What we design

What we design for a construction company

  1. The T City Developments website on a laptop
    Logos & Branding

A logo that survives the job site

Tested on a site sign, a hard hat decal and a Google thumbnail before you see it. Thin lines and long taglines go. Colours picked to print cleanly on vinyl, hi-vis and embroidery.

  2. A site worker in hi-vis directing a skid steer operator
    Construction Photography

    Signs, trucks and crew gear

Site signs and hoarding with your name, what you build and a phone number, in that order, plus a site contact line for neighbours. Branded workwear that holds up on site. Then we photograph your crews wearing it.

  3. The new Kiwi Custom Construction website on a laptop above Okanagan Lake

    Proposals and bid documents

Templates for estimates, proposals and a one-page capability statement with your projects, safety record and certificates. Developers and property managers lay these side by side.

The T City Developments website on a laptop, carrying the new brand

Rebrand · T City Developments · Duplex and multiplex builder, Vancouver

What a rebrand did for a Vancouver multiplex builder

  • #97where they started on Google
  • #4where they were 30 days later
  • 5.0Google rating, with review requests built in

T City builds duplexes, multiplexes and laneway homes for owners making one of the biggest money decisions of their lives. The new mark is a T made of two columns beside the name in wide capitals, on deep navy with a mint accent, carried across the website, the cards and the Google profile. The website and SEO did the ranking, and the brand made T City look like a company worth calling once it showed up.

Through the year

When to rebrand a construction company

  1. November to February

    Design it

Slower months on site leave room for concept rounds and feedback without holding up a build.

  2. March to April

    Order before ground breaks

Site signs, truck decals and crew gear printed before the first spring start, so every new site wears it.

  3. May to September

    Show it on site

Every active build carries the new sign. Shoot crews and builds for the website and ads while the look is fresh.

  4. October

    Update the paperwork

Proposal and capability templates ready for next year's bids and owner meetings.

Is this for you?

A rebrand pays off when your work has outgrown your logo

You're a good fit if

  • Your logo was made before your biggest projects
  • You're about to order site signs, hoarding or a truck wrap
  • You bid against firms with sharper proposals than yours
  • You want the site, the truck, the paperwork and Google to match

We're not a fit if

  • You want the cheapest logo you can find
  • You'll keep the old logo on the trucks anyway

Get a brand plan
What makes a good construction logo?

One that reads from a passing car and still works as a tiny Google profile photo. That usually means a simple mark, the name in strong letters, two or three colours and no thin lines or long tagline. It should look like the buildings you build, not like clip art of a hammer.

Is $500 too much for a logo?

For a construction company it's usually too little to do the job. A logo has to work on site signs, trucks, hard hats, proposals and the web. Our Starter Kit is $1,600 for a custom logo, design files and a business card, and the Growth Kit is $3,600 with a full brand kit and guidelines.

Should I rebrand or refresh my logo?

Refresh it if people already know a colour or mark on your trucks. Start over if the logo can't be read on a sign or a phone, or if it looks like a smaller company than the one you run. We'll tell you which on the first call.

Should my business name include my city or what I build?

Only if it's your real business name. Google's guidelines don't allow extra keywords in a profile's name, and profiles can be suspended for it. Our BC study scored a clean business name as part of a strong profile.

Can you design site signs, hoarding and workwear?

Yes. We lay out the sign or hoarding with your name, what you build, a phone number and a contact line for neighbours, plus versions for shirts, hi-vis and hard hats, then send print-ready files to your sign shop. Check your city's rules on construction signs before you order.

Do I own the logo?

Yes. The design files are yours, and the Growth Kit includes full content rights in writing.
