Facebook ads for construction companies · Vancouver and across Canada

CONSTRUCTION FACEBOOK ADS MANAGEMENT

A contractor lead from Facebook costs about $61, against about $224 for a construction lead from Google search. We run Facebook ads for construction companies that build homes, multiplexes and additions, set up inside Meta's Housing rules, with a text back within seconds so cheaper leads still turn into site meetings.

  • Ads made from video and photos of your own builds
  • Set up in Meta's Housing category where it applies
  • Forms that ask about the lot, the budget and the start date
  • Pixel and Conversions API, so Meta learns who signs

The reality

Why construction Facebook ads bring cheap leads that never sign

  1. Targeting Meta doesn't allow

Ads for new homes or housing repairs fall in Meta's Housing category. Reaching Canada, that means no age or postal code targeting, a 25 km minimum radius and no lookalike audiences. Plenty of guides still say to target homeowners over 30 by postal code, and Meta can reject ads set up without the right category.

  2. Leads who forgot they asked

Instant forms take two taps. Without questions about the lot, the budget and the timing, you collect names, not projects.

  3. The wrong buyer

Developers, property managers and public owners don't pick a builder from a feed. Facebook works for owners planning a house, a multiplex or an addition, and it's the wrong tool for commercial bids.

  4. No pixel on the website

In our study of 133 Canadian construction companies, 13% of websites had a Meta pixel. Without one, Meta can't show your build video again to people who read your custom home page, and can't learn which leads signed.

By the numbers

What does a Facebook lead cost for a construction company?

About $61 CAD for a contractor lead from Facebook lead ads, the median across the Facebook studies and ad platforms we reviewed. A construction lead from Google search runs about $224. Facebook leads are earlier in their decision, so the fair test is signed projects, not cost per lead.

Three ads we'd run

Three construction ads we'd test first

Each one is built from your own builds, with one clear offer. The offers are yours to set.

HookPhoto or videoOffer
The lot check "Your single-house lot may now take a fourplex. What fits on yours?" A finished fourplex you built, shot from the street A free lot check
Slab to lock-up A 30-second time-lapse of one of your builds Progress video from the same spot every week, plus one drone pass A tour of a build in progress
The addition, before and after "Same house. One more bedroom." A before-and-after carousel from an addition you finished, with your warranty in the first line A design meeting with a budget range up front

We don't send a construction lead form out without the lot question. An owner without a lot isn't building this year.

    A text back in seconds

The moment a form comes in, the owner gets a text with a time to talk. Each signed project goes back to Meta through the Conversions API, so your ads reach more people like the ones who sign.

What we can show you, and what we can't yet

  • 8jobs booked from Google Ads
  • 20days from website launch
  • 7Xreturn on ad spend

We don't have a construction Facebook ads case study to publish yet. The closest thing is the creative and the website we built for a painting company: the brand, the van, the website and the before-and-after photos Beyond The Brush advertises with. Those 8 jobs came from Google Ads, not Facebook, and we show them because a build video lives or dies by the same rules: real work, a clear offer and a page that matches the ad.

I'm very happy with service from Debut Marketing. Evan is very professional, responsive, and has been great helping grow my painting business online. I really appreciate their communication and the effort they put into our marketing. Highly recommend!

Is this for you?

Facebook ads suit builders with something to show

You're a good fit if

  • You build homes, multiplexes or additions for owners
  • You have video or photos of your builds, or will let us shoot them
  • Someone calls new leads back the same day
  • You can put $1,000 a month into ads for 90 days

We're not a fit if

  • Your work is commercial or comes through tenders
  • You want emergency or repair calls. Those are searched, not scrolled

Get a Facebook ads plan
Instant form or landing page?

Start with an instant form, Meta's higher-intent review step and three questions: lot, budget range and start date. Add a landing page once you have a project page worth sending people to. People who click through to a good page are usually further along.

How much should a construction company spend on Facebook ads?

$1,000 to $1,500 a month in one area is enough to learn which offer works. At about $61 a lead, that's roughly 16 to 24 leads. Judge it on site meetings and signed projects at 90 days, not on cost per lead.

What is Meta's Housing category, and does it apply to me?

It's a Special Ad Category for housing ads, including homes for sale and housing repairs, required for ads reaching Canada since December 3, 2020. If your ad sells new homes or offers home repairs, plan on it. We set it at launch instead of waiting for a rejection.

Do Facebook ads work for commercial construction?

Rarely. Commercial clients hire through bids, referrals and relationships, not a feed, so your website, SEO and bid documents do more there. We'll tell you if Facebook isn't worth it for your mix of work.

Can Facebook ads help us hire?

They can. Hiring ads run in Meta's Employment category, with the same limits on age and location targeting, and should point to a careers page with real openings. Keep them in their own campaign, apart from your client ads, so job seekers don't end up in your lead forms.

Who owns the ad account and the pixel?

You do. The ad account, the page, the pixel and the audiences sit in your business, and they stay with you if you leave.
