Eleven ways for concrete contractors to get found, earn trust and book more driveways, foundations and patios, from Google and Facebook ads to reviews, financing and local events.

Key findings

  1. Homeowners check reviews, and now AI, before they call. 97% of consumers read reviews for local businesses, and 45% have used AI tools like ChatGPT to find one, up from 6% a year earlier.1
  2. A Facebook lead costs about a third of a Google concrete lead. About $61 on Facebook against about $175 for a concrete lead from Google search, in Canadian dollars.27 Facebook leads are earlier in the decision.
  3. The typical BC construction company has 28 Google reviews. A quarter have 45 or more.8 A concrete company past 45 sits above most of the companies Google shows.
  4. You can win without ads. Valley West Concrete reached #1 on Google and in AI answers in Vernon and Kelowna with no ad spend: about 12 extra leads a month and a 17X return.9

Homeowners and property managers look for concrete contractors online first. They search Google, check reviews, look at photos of past work and, more and more, ask AI tools like ChatGPT and Google's AI Mode for a recommendation. BrightLocal's 2026 survey found 45% of consumers now use AI tools to find local businesses1, up from 6% a year earlier. If you pour driveways, foundations or decorative patios, these 11 ideas will help you get found, earn trust and book more jobs in 2026.

I've spent more than five years marketing contractors, and concrete is a trade we know well: our work with Valley West Concrete took them to #1 on Google and in AI answers in Vernon and Kelowna, with no ads.

1. Build a Website That Ranks

A website only brings in work if people can find it. Search engine optimization (SEO) is how you show up when someone searches "concrete contractor near me" or "stamped concrete [your city]". If you'd rather have it done for you, see our local SEO service, or ask us a question for free.

  • Use local keywords like "concrete driveway installation in [your city]"
  • Make sure the site is fast and works well on phones
  • Create a separate page for each service: driveways, patios, foundations, sidewalks, stamped concrete
  • Answer common questions in plain language: cost, timelines, curing time, maintenance

Two concrete and hardscaping sites that do this

Both are sites we built: a page for every service, the town in the headline and a quote button on the first screen of a phone.

  • Vernon Concrete (Valley West Concrete)

    Concrete contractor, Vernon

    • "Free Quote" on the first screen, with the phone number in the menu on desktop
    • A page for each of 11 services, from driveways to retaining walls
    • Built for one town, so Google and AI tools know exactly where the company works

#1 on Google and in AI answers in Vernon, about 12 extra leads a month, no ads.

  • Kiwi Custom Construction

    Custom pool builder, Kelowna

    • "Start your project" and "See our work" on the first screen of a phone, "Get a Quote" in the menu
    • A page for each service: pools, concrete and hardscaping, woodwork
    • A scroll animation that builds a pool, so buyers see the process before they call
    • The main content showed in 0.7 seconds on our phone test

80% more website traffic in the first three months.

2. Set Up Your Google Business Profile

Your Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business) is free and decides whether you show up in the map results. Google now also uses your profile, reviews and photos to answer questions in Maps with its AI "Ask Maps" feature, which replaced the old Q&A section in 2026.

  • Keep your business name, address and phone number the same everywhere online
  • Add new photos of your work every week or two
  • Ask every happy customer to leave a review
  • Post updates, offers and finished projects regularly

3. Run Google Ads for Quick Leads

Google Ads puts you at the top of the page the day you launch. It costs money per click, so tight targeting matters. Our 2026 findings put a contractor's search ad at about $11.24 a click and $121 a lead in Canadian dollars,61123 and a concrete lead at about $175.57

  • Target high-intent searches like "concrete contractor near me"
  • Limit ads to the areas you actually serve
  • Write ads that mention your services, area and a clear offer
  • Track every call and form so you know what each lead costs

4. Use Facebook and Instagram Ads

Facebook and Instagram reach homeowners before they start searching. Leads are usually cheaper than on Google, but less ready to buy. A contractor lead from Facebook typically costs about $61 in Canadian dollars.25 If you'd like help setting up your ads, get in touch.

  • Target homeowners by location and let Meta's system find the right people
  • Show before and after photos of your projects
  • Offer a free estimate or a seasonal deal
  • Use short videos of a pour or a finished driveway

5. Post Your Work on Social Media

Social media is a free place to show your work and stay in front of past customers.

  • Post a few times a week on Facebook and Instagram
  • Share behind-the-scenes clips of forms, pours and finishing
  • Give simple concrete care tips, like sealing and winter salt
  • Reply to comments and messages quickly

6. Partner with Other Local Businesses

Home builders, landscapers and real estate agents meet your future customers every week.

  • Set up referral arrangements with trades you trust
  • Join a local builders' association or networking group
  • Team up on bundled projects, like a patio with landscaping

7. Collect and Show Off Reviews

Reviews decide a lot of jobs. In BrightLocal's 2026 survey, 97% of consumers read reviews for local businesses1 and 68% will only use a business with four stars or more.

  • Ask for a Google review as soon as a job is finished
  • Show testimonials on your website
  • Reply to every review, good or bad, calmly and quickly

The rating, recency and reply bands follow what consumers say they look for: 68% won’t use a business under 4 stars, 74% want reviews from the last three months and 89% expect the owner to reply.

8. Follow Up by Email and Text

Many quotes are lost because nobody followed up.

  • Send a follow-up two or three days after every quote
  • Email past customers once or twice a year about sealing and repairs
  • Automate the first reply so every new lead hears from you right away

9. Invest in Good Photos and Video

Concrete work sells on looks. Professional photos and video make your work look as good as it is.

  • Build before and after galleries for your website and Google profile
  • Make time-lapse videos of bigger pours
  • Record short customer testimonials on site

10. Offer Financing

A new driveway or foundation is a big bill. Payment plans can turn "maybe next year" into a booked job.

  • Partner with a financing company that offers payment plans
  • Mention financing on your website, quotes and ads
  • Break down costs clearly so customers understand what they're paying for

11. Show Up at Local Events

Home shows and community events still work, especially in smaller towns.

  • Book a booth at a local home show
  • Sponsor a community event or sports team
  • Offer a show-only discount and collect contact details

Where to start

Pick two or three ideas, not eleven. If you're starting from zero, get the Google profile and the reviews going first (ideas 2 and 7), then the website (idea 1), then ads when you want more work than referrals and search bring in. Give each one 60 days and keep the ones that book jobs.

If you're starting from scratch, our Foundation Package gets the website, branding and Google profile done in one go.

Questions contractors ask

What's the cheapest way to get more concrete jobs?

A complete Google Business Profile and a steady flow of reviews. Both are free. In our study of 99 BC construction companies, the median had 28 Google reviews and the top quarter had 45 or more.8

Should a concrete contractor use Google Ads or Facebook ads?

Google for people searching right now for driveways, patios and foundations; Facebook for showing finished pours to homeowners before they search. A concrete lead typically costs about $175 on Google search and a contractor lead about $61 on Facebook, in Canadian dollars.27

How many Google reviews does a concrete company need?

Aim for the top quarter: 45 reviews across BC, 54 in Metro Vancouver and 38 elsewhere. The details are in how many reviews a construction company needs.

How long does local SEO take for a concrete company?

Usually 6 to 12 months to reach the top of the local results. Once you're there, the leads keep coming without paying per click.
